Best Direction for Plants: Who doesn't like greenery? Plants kept in the courtyard or balcony of the house not only provide fresh air but also add to the beauty of the house. But do you know that according to Vastu Shastra, every plant has its own energy? If these plants are not kept in the right direction and according to the rules, they can affect the well-being of the house. Let us know about the right direction of keeping plants according to Vastu and the important rules related to them.
Most auspicious direction for plants
- Vaastu Shastra North and East directions are considered to be the directions of water and positive energy.
- North-East (Ishaan Kon): It is very auspicious to plant small plants like basil, mint or marigold in this direction. This brings happiness and prosperity in the house and opens the way to wealth.
- East direction: Keeping plants in the east direction improves social contacts and increases respect.
Right direction for heavy and tall trees
If you want to plant big and tall trees like Neem or Mango in the garden of your house, then choose the south or west direction for this. According to Vastu, having heavy trees in these directions strengthens the house and prevents the entry of negative energy.
Do not keep plants in this direction even by mistake
According to Vastu, one should avoid keeping small and delicate plants in the south-west or south-west corner of the house. It is important to have heaviness in this direction, hence only big and dense trees should be planted here. Apart from this, planting any plant or tree in the middle of the house can cause Vaastu defects.

Important Vastu rules related to plants
- Remove dried plants immediately: Dry or withered plants should never be kept in the house. These are considered a symbol of 'negative energy' and indicate financial crisis.
- Avoid thorny plants: Cactus or other thorny plants should not be planted inside the house (except roses). It is believed that these increase tension and differences among family members.
- Milk Plants: Plants which, when cut or broken, exude a white milk-like substance should not be planted in the courtyard of the house. These are considered inauspicious for health and wealth.
- Location of Tulsi: Always keep the Tulsi plant in the North, East or North-East direction. Keep in mind that there should not be dirt around Tulsi and light a lamp there in the evening.
