In a devastating incident, an explosion at a fireworks manufacturing facility in Liuyang city, located in Hunan province, has resulted in the deaths of 21 individuals and left 61 others injured, as reported by Chinese state media on Tuesday. The explosion occurred around 5 PM on Monday at the Liuyang Huasheng Fireworks Manufacturing and Display Co., situated in Guandu township, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency.
Following the blast, emergency response teams and fire rescue units were swiftly dispatched to the scene. Authorities mobilized nearly 500 personnel to carry out search and rescue efforts and provide medical assistance to the injured. Additionally, robots were utilized to locate individuals trapped inside the facility. This situation is still unfolding, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
