New Delhi: Mumbai and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) young batter Ayush Mhatre is likely to be ruled out for the next two months after suffering a hamstring and wrist injury, reports Times of India (TOI).
The setback means that Mhatre will miss the upcoming season of the T20 Mumbai League, which is scheduled to be played in June. He was retained by the Triumph Knights along with India’s T20 skipper Suryakumar Yadav. Mhatre suffered a hamstring injury while batting in CSK’s IPL 2026 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 18.
“Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 due to a left hamstring injury sustained while batting during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18. Ayush’s injury will require a rehabilitation period of 6-12 weeks. We wish Ayush a speedy recovery,” CSK has posted on social media.

He was in great form for the five-time IPL champions, scoring 201 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 177.87. He was a crucial part of the CSK’s batting order, but injury ended his season early.
“Ayush not only has a left hamstring injury, but has also been diagnosed with a wrist injury. He is now likely to be out of action for a couple of months,” a source told TOI.
CSK to face DC in must-win IPL 2026 clash
CSK will next take on Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 5. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side is currently placed in sixth position in the IPL 2026 points table. They need to win four matches out of the remaining five to keep their IPL playoffs hopes alive. CSK defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 8 wickets in their last match, while DC beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 7 wickets.
