New Delhi: A sensational opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton helped Mumbai Indians (MI) to end their three-match losing streak with a 6-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2026 clash at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, May 4.
Chasing the target, the five-time IPL champions got off to a flying start as Rohit and Rickelton helped MI to score 71 runs in the powerplay. Rohit missed five matches in the ongoing season due to a hamstring injury, but made a strong comeback with a 27-ball fifty, while Rickelton also completed his half-century in 22 deliveries.
Mohsin Khan broke the partnership in the 11th over by removing Rickelton for 83 runs, while Manimaran Siddharth dismissed Rohit for 84 in the 14th over. LSG made a comeback in the match as Manimaran picked up his second wicket by removing Tilak for 11 runs in the 16th over.
Stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav failed to take MI over the line and was removed by Mohammed Shami in the 18th over. But Naman Dhir played a good cameo and Will Jacks hit the winning runs as MI chased down the target with 8 balls to spare.
