Following the win, Shubman Gill posted, “Bas jeetna hai. Aava de,” hinting at his only focus, getting the victory, no matter how close it gets. His team earned two crucial points after chasing down 164, finishing at 167 for 6 with just one ball remaining.

Speaking after the match, Shubman Gill admitted the chase became tighter than expected. He explained that the pitch wasn’t ideal for a quick finish and the team knew it would require patience. According to him, once a batter gets settled on such a surface, it’s important to stay till the end. He also pointed out that the ball wasn’t coming nicely onto the bat, making stroke play tricky. In the end, he credited Washington Sundar for calmly finishing the job under pressure.

On the other side, Shreyas Iyer, captain of Punjab Kings, looked disappointed despite his team posting 163 for 9. He believed it was a competitive total, especially after early struggles. Losing four wickets in the powerplay made their recovery to 160-plus commendable.

Shreyas Iyer also noted that the pitch had uneven bounce, making certain shots difficult. While he expected his bowlers to capitalise with the new ball, things didn’t go as planned. Still, he praised his team’s effort, attitude and fight throughout the game, even in defeat.
