As Rohit Sharma gets back in training for his return for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2026, something rather untoward occurred while he was practicing in the nets when he mistakenly hit one of the ground staff with the ball.
During practice where the team has little chances of reaching the play-offs and preparing for a bunch of coming matches, Rohit who has been away with injury made sure to step up and prepare for his comeback. During his batting practice however, a shot made contact with Siban Biswas, one of the groundsmen working for the team.
Though he was told to carry on with his practice, Rohit stopped midway and immediately made his way to him.
Rohit Rushes to Help
Siban Biswas spoke more about the entire incident that had occurred and how Rohit reacted.
Biswas, 27, said:
"When Rohit Sharma sir told us to remove the off-side net, we did so and stood at the side. Just then, while I was wrapping the rope and not paying attention to the players nearby, the ball hit me on my left knee. Rohit sir immediately came and inquired about the injury, but I told him to continue batting and not to bother. Yet, he returned with an ice pack and also sent someone to give me some medicine and a spray to put on my leg."
Rohit made sure that the player was fine even when it was assured that everything was alright. He had come and asked Biswas for his well being.
Biswas added:
"It was mixed feelings... though my knee was in pain, it also feels good because I got a handshake with Rohit sir."

Mumbai Indians Struggle this Season
Although it was a light hearted moment off the field it has certainly been a turbulent season on the field for the Mumbai Indians this IPL season. The team has not been able to get consistency despite boasting of a powerful squad.
In the last few years they have been a bit inconsistent, finishing last in 2024 and reaching qualifier 2 last year, and this year is proving to be no different.
Former commentator Simon Doull reflected on the tough times for the Indians and stated that blame cannot solely be put on the players or captain.
Doull stated:
"Ownership and management have to take responsibility for what has happened over three years. One year can be a blip, but this has been the side that has won five titles in the 19 years of the tournament. They have won a quarter."
As we head into the final stages of the IPL this season, the Mumbai Indians would look for a strong comeback as they could do with Rohit's services returning as they aim to stay alive in the playoff race.
