Tragic Road Accident in Jalaun Claims Six Lives

A devastating road accident occurred on Monday morning on the Jalaun-Jhansi-Kanpur National Highway 27, resulting in the tragic deaths of six individuals, while four others sustained serious injuries. The incident took place near Chaurasi Gumbad in the Kalpi police jurisdiction, where a speeding Tavera car collided with a truck from behind. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled, leaving the passengers with no chance to react.



Initial reports suggest that the driver of the car fell asleep, leading to this unfortunate accident. It is reported that all passengers in the Tavera were returning to Lalitpur after visiting Ayodhya. As the vehicle approached Jolhupur, it suddenly lost control and crashed into the truck ahead, causing chaos at the scene.


The deceased have been identified as residents of Hardaul Mohalla in the Mahrauni police area of Lalitpur district.


Among those in the car were Shashikant Tiwari, son of Uttam Tiwari, Krishnakant Nayak, son of Dayashankar, Deepak Tiwari, Harimohan Tiwari, Bhushan Tiwari, Anshul Tiwari, Swami Prasad Tiwari, and Manoj Bhondal.


Rescue Operations Underway

Upon receiving news of the accident, Jalaun District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Pandey, along with Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar Singh and Kalpi police station in-charge Inspector Ajay Brahma Tiwari, arrived at the scene with a significant police presence to initiate rescue operations. Due to the extensive damage to the car, rescuers faced considerable challenges in extracting the trapped individuals. Police and ambulance personnel utilized a crane to remove the vehicle and retrieve the bodies and injured passengers.


Traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted following the accident, but police worked diligently to restore normalcy. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and an investigation into the incident has commenced. Preliminary findings indicate that the driver's drowsiness was the cause of the crash, although police are exploring other factors as well. This tragic event has left the families of the deceased in mourning and has cast a pall of grief over the entire region.


Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar Singh confirmed that the victims were residents of Lalitpur district, all returning from a pilgrimage in Ayodhya when the driver fell asleep, leading to the collision with the larger vehicle.
