Itanagar, May 4: A suspected sex trafficking operation was dismantled during a late-night raid at a resort located in Roing, within Arunachal Pradesh's Lower Dibang Valley district, resulting in the rescue of four women.

Following specific intelligence, a team from the Roing Police Station executed a surprise operation at a resort in the Meka area on Sunday night, as reported by police on Monday.

During the operation, four women, believed to have been brought in from Tinsukia in Assam, were rescued and taken into protective custody, according to officer-in-charge Tania Uli.

The resort's owner, manager, and several patrons were also detained for questioning after being allegedly implicated in prostitution-related activities.

Initial investigations indicate that the operation involved trafficking women from outside the state, with most clients being local residents, police stated.

Authorities mentioned that they had received multiple complaints from the community in recent days regarding suspected illegal activities in the vicinity.

A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, with further investigations ongoing.

Police are actively working to identify additional individuals connected to the racket and to prevent such illegal activities in the district.

In the meantime, Arunachal Pradesh's Home Minister Mama Natung praised the police team, led by Ringu Ngupok, for their successful operation and the rescue of the women.

“Our government upholds a zero-tolerance policy against social evils and illegal activities,” Natung stated in a social media update.

He further noted that the establishment was operating without a valid license and confirmed the detention of both the owner and manager.

Reiterating the government's commitment, the minister emphasized that authorities would persist in taking decisive action against those involved in exploitation and unlawful activities.
