S.S. Rajamouli's upcoming film, 'Varanasi', has suddenly hit a roadblock. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has rejected a request for 150 water tankers for the film's shoot. The filmmakers had sought the water to shoot underwater sequences on a specially constructed set located on the outskirts of the city.

**Board Rejects Request**
According to media reports, the Board's decision has impacted preparations for a crucial filming schedule slated to take place on the special set. *Telangana Today* reported that the Board turned down the request submitted by the production team of S.S. Rajamouli's film, 'Varanasi'.

**The Reason Behind the Rejection**
Officials cited the summer season as the primary reason behind this decision. The rising demand for water in Hyderabad, exacerbated by the heat, is placing significant strain on the city's water supply system. Consequently, officials stated that they cannot allocate such a large number of water tankers for non-essential purposes; their priority remains ensuring that the residents of the city have access to water.

**Filming in Jeopardy**
As a result of this rejection, the scheduled plan for filming the underwater sequences for 'Varanasi' has been disrupted. These scenes were expected to be a spectacular and pivotal part of the film. The production team had offered to cover the costs associated with the tankers; however, the department officials reportedly expressed concern given the sheer magnitude of the request for water tankers.

**When Will the Film Be Released?**
It is worth noting that 'Varanasi' will feature Mahesh Babu in the role of 'Rudra', Priyanka Chopra Jonas as 'Mandakini', and Prithviraj Sukumaran as 'Kumbh'. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 7, 2027.
