New Delhi: As trends start to settle in, the leading parties are in a mood of euphoria, while a sombre mood has taken over parties that are trailing.
According to official data from the Election Commission, in Assam, the BJP is leading in 78 Assembly constituencies and its alliance partner is ahead in nine seats. The majority mark in the 126-member Assam Assembly is 64. The opposition Congress is leading in 24 seats, while the BOPF is ahead in 10 seats.
What trends predict in states
In Kerala, the UDF is heading towards a landslide victory, with Congress leading in 59 seats, while alliance partner IUML is ahead in 23 constituencies. The ruling LDF is heading towards a defeat, with CPM ahead in just 29 seats, while ally CPI is leading in just 9 constituencies.
In West Bengal, the BJP is all set to form the next government in the state, with the party currently leading in 177 of the 294 constituencies. The ruling TMC is ahead in just 93 seats. The majority mark in Bengal is 148.
In Tamil Nadu, actor Vijay’s TVK has emerged as the single largest party. TVK is ahead in 106 constituencies. The majority mark in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly is 118. AIADMK is in second position and is leading in 60 seats. The ruling DMK has been relegated to third position and is ahead in just 48 constituencies.
In the Union Territory of Puducherry, AINRC is ahead in 8 constituencies, BJP in 2, Congress in 1, and AIADMK in 1 seat. Independents are leading in 3 constituencies. The majority mark in the 30-member Puducherry Assembly is 16.
Celebrations outside BJP office
These trends have prompted celebrations at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, with preparations of food underway. Visuals on social media show the preparation of pooris and sweets.

BJP workers are celebrating the party’s performance in West Bengal by distributing sweets to people and media personnel. A video of a party worker distributing sweets outside the counting centre in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency has been widely shared on social media. Outside the BJP office in Kolkata, workers can be seen smearing saffron colours on each other, while a person was seen holding a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The workers appear to be in a joyous mood.

TVK workers celebrate, DMK HQ wore deserted look
Celebrations are also underway in Tamil Nadu, with TVK workers distributing sweets outside the party headquarters in Chennai. Visuals also show celebrations at actor Vijay’s residence.
Meanwhile, the mood is sombre outside the DMK headquarters, with the party currently in third position. As trends start to consolidate, visuals on social media show tents being removed from Arivalayam, the DMK headquarters in Chennai. Supporters who had arrived in large numbers in the morning have also started thinning out. The party has also removed the countdown screen it had put up yesterday, as trends show it is in third position in Tamil Nadu.

Party workers cheer as Congress closes on victory in Kerala
As results are not going in its favour in other parts of the country on Monday, Kerala has brought much-needed joy for Congress. The party is set to return to power in the southern state after 10 years. Senior Congress leaders, including KC Venugopal, Ramesh Chennithala, Sunny Joseph, and Shashi Tharoor, gathered at the party’s Kerala headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram to celebrate. The leaders marked the moment by cutting a cake and jointly raising their hands in a gesture of victory, celebrating the UDF’s strong performance in the early trends.
