Kimi Antonelli battled his way past a determined Lando Norris to secure a third consecutive triumph and strengthen his grip at the top of the standings as the Miami Grand Prix weathered the storm. The young Italian gained the upper hand over Norris during the pit-stops and held off the reigning champion to push his lead in the championship to 20 points ahead of team-mate George Russell.
The 19-year-old had already sealed wins in China and Japan to assert his dominance over his experienced team-mate, before an enforced five-week hiatus following the scrapping of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia races due to the conflict in the Middle East. Both Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc were handed time penalties after the Red Bull ace crossed the white line on the pit exit, while the Ferrari star left the track too many times to gain an advantage.
