New Delhi | Chennai: In Puducherry, six counting centres have been set up across the Union Territory. The NDA comprising AINRC, BJP, AIADMK and LJK faces a challenge from the INDIA bloc comprising Congress, DMK and VCK.
After a record turnout in the assembly elections on April 9, pollsters predicted a lead for the NRC-led NDA over the Congress-DMK alliance.

The elections were fought across 30 seats in Puducherry. A party or alliance must win 16 seats to form a government in the Union Territory. In the last elections in 2021, NRC-led NDA had won 16 seats and formed the government.
Counting of votes will also be held in eight seats in Goa, Karnataka, Nagaland, Gujarat and Maharashtra where bypolls were held last month following the death of sitting MLAs. The eight constituencies are: Ponda in Goa, Bagalkot and Davnagere South in Karnataka, Koridang in Nagaland, Dharmanagar in Tripura, Umreth in Gujarat, and Rahuri and Baramati in Maharashtra.
