BJP exuded confidence on Sunday in winning the Bengal assembly polls with "comfortable majority" on issues like women's safety, youth unemployment and claimed that free and fair election mechanism coupled with anti- incumbency will help their victory, BJP central leadership said.

However, Trinamool Congress supremo and outgoing CM Mamata Banerjee has claimed that Trinamool will win 200 plus seats in Bengal.

Counting for 2026 polls will start at 8.30 am tomorrow. .


A senior leader from Delhi claimed today that BJP will sweep in Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling hills, Junglemahal belt of Purulia, Bankura and Jhargram and Matua belts of Nadia and North 24 Parganas district. In South Bengal, known to be Trinamool Congress stronghold, likely to win substantial number of seats.

They expect a few seats in Minority dominated belts of Malda,Murshidabad and even South 24 Parganas districts as well.

The party leadership claimed when there is a wave of change, in which many seats will be won which are unexpected otherwise.

Kolkata core seats which have 11 seats have always been won by Trinamool Congress. "Victory in Bhabanipur will set the tone of the victory in Kolkata seats," claimed the central leader, who has been part of the Election process for the last few months.

"Anti-incumbency is a major factor on ground coupled with an election mechanism by ECI which was violence free and helped in building confidence of the people, " the central leader emphasized.

" Women's cause, their safety and security both rural and urban, Hindu and Muslims have voted for their safety and dignity, " he claimed.

According to the BJP leader, youth unemployment is a major issue this time. "Around 45 lakh New voters have voted, which have gone against TMC," BJP sources told ET.

Trinamool Congress has raised pitch against SIR but the farmers were thinking about potato prices and youth about unemployment, the leader said.

Trinamool Congress said they are ready to take oath for the fourth time and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has expressed confidence if winning a majority of 200 votes.
