New Delhi: Jason Holder recorded his best bowling figures in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as Gujarat Titans (GT) restricted Punjab Kings (PBKS) to 163/9 in 20 overs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 3. Holder picked up 4 wickets and conceded just 24 runs in his four-over spell.
GT got off to a sensational start after opting to bowl as Mohammed Siraj picked up two wickets in the opening over. He first dismissed in-form opener Priyansh Arya for 2 runs and then removed Cooper Connolly for a duck on the very next delivery.
Prabhsimran forged a 33-run partnership with captain Shreyas Iyer to help PBKS recover. But, they lost another wicket as Rabada dismissed Prabhsimran for 15 in the last over of the powerplay. After that, it was all Jason Holder’s show in Ahmedabad.
The all-rounder removed Nehal Wadhera and Shreyas Iyer in consecutive overs to leave PBKS reeling at 47/5 in 9 overs. But, Suryansh Shedge and Marcus Stoinis forged a crucial 79-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Shedge played the attacking shots and smashed 27 runs in one over off Manav Suthar.
He completed his maiden IPL fifty in just 24 balls, hitting five maximums and three boundaries. Stoinis also scored 40 runs off 31 balls with the help of five boundaries and one maximum. But Rabada returned to break the partnership, and Holder finished things off with a 4-wicket haul. Apart from Holder, Siraj and Rabada picked up two wickets each, while Rashid Khan also took one.

Chasing the target, GT got off to a poor start as Arshdeep Singh dismissed captain Shubman Gill for 5 runs in the second over. After his dismissal, Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan stitched an unbeaten 33-run partnership as GT reached 49/1 after five overs.
