Sometimes, Joel Embiid looks more like a WWE superstar than an elite NBA athlete. Like a pro wrestling icon delivering a menacing speech to an opponent after a match, the Philadelphia 76ers big man had a special message for an opponent who had apparently gotten on his nerves.
David vs. Goliath matchups are common in the squared circle, and in the case of this NBA feud, Embiid’s adversary was Payton Pritchard, a Boston Celtics guard with an 11-inch height disadvantage against the 7-foot Cameroonian.
When asked to comment on Embiid’s imminent return to the Sixers lineup (after the former MVP spent 17 days recovering from an appendectomy), Pritchard gave a nonchalant, almost complacent answer.
“If he plays, he plays. We’ll figure that out. It’s not like we’re sitting here worried if he’s playing or not,” Pritchard told reporters prior to Game 4. “We haven’t even game-planned for him yet.”
