Rob Spencer warned fans "don't be the person that has to be thrown out" during the final of the snooker World Championship, addressing the audience over mobile phone use. Wu Yize took a two-frame lead over Shaun Murphy at the Crucible on Sunday afternoon before the two retreated for a brief break.
And ahead of the third frame's commencement, Spencer was quick to warn the crowd about having their phones switched off to not disturb the finalists. He turned to the audience and politely, but firmly, said: "So before we start this frame, could I please ask you all to make sure your phones are on silent or switched off. Don't be the person that has to be thrown out, okay?"
Quick to explain the referee's brief discussion, which he was met with applause for, Hazel Irvine was then heard saying: "Yes, it's the phones on silent business. How many times has this happened guys?
"They say it, Rob says it, referees say it constantly. But it's either forgetfulness or just carelessness."
Chuckling in agreement, Ken Doherty then added: "Exactly. No matter how many times you say it, and Rob Walker - even at the top before he introduced the players...He said, 'put your phone on silent, switch them off whatever you do.' But there's always one, there's always one."

It comes as Murphy was left in "disgust" in the frame earlier, as he missed a relatively routine shot at the table. The start of the final didn't quite go to plan for the 'Magician', who conceded the first frame before he made a mess of an effort on the green with the rest in hand.
After lining his play up all wrong, the green cannonned off the jaws of the pocket before rolling back out. Murphy then dropped the rest on the table in frustration, out of character for the 2005 World Champion.
