It's race day at the Miami Grand Prix, as Formula 1 makes its highly-anticipated return following a month-long layoff. No races ensued across April as a result of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia GPs being cancelled as a result of ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
However, a new month sees the action between the world's elite drivers resume at the Miami International Autodrome come Sunday, May 3. Kimi Antonelli's remarkable form from China and Japan bled into this weekend's qualifying, as the Mercedes man lines up at pole position on the grid when the race ensues at 6pm (UK time).
While the race was initially set to take place three hours later, organisers made the executive decision to bring it forward due to worries over thunderstorms following extensive talks. Despite struggling under the FIA's new rules and regulations for 2026, Max Verstappen, meanwhile, seems to have found his footing stateside, finishing just .166 seconds behind his Italian rival in qualifying to line-up second.

Despite a wealth of complaining about his car this season thus far, Verstappen had an abundance of praise for improvements made to it over the April break. He told the media ahead of the Miami GP: "So many things were not working up until this weekend.
"So, for us, bringing the car back together, also for me in the car itself, a few things have changed, and it made it a lot more comfortable to drive. And just I feel a lot more confidence and I don't feel like I'm a passenger anymore in the car. That was already quite evident yesterday."
