Siddharthnagar. On Saturday, in Kanshiram Awas Colony of the city, 5 children had climbed a 60 feet high water tank to make a reel. The ladder broke while descending. 3 children fell down. Of these, 1 died, while the condition of 2 is critical. 2 children got stuck on the tank. Army rescued children trapped on water tank for 16 hours with Air Force helicopter. Both have been admitted to the Air Force Hospital in Gorakhpur. There were difficulties in the rescue operation due to swamp around the tank. A hydraulic crane was called for, but due to swamp the crane could not reach the tank. Therefore, the work of constructing 150 meter road was started. By late night about 120 meters of road was built.

Meanwhile, heavy rain started around 3 o’clock in the night, due to which the work had to be stopped. Seeing the situation, the administration sought the help of the army. After this, the Air Force helicopter reached the spot at around 5.20 am on Sunday morning and rescued both the children safely. Whereas on Saturday itself, doctors declared 13-year-old Siddharth’s son Dharmendra dead. He was a resident of Jubileepur in Mohana police station area and had come to his relative’s place in Kashiram Colony. The injured teenagers include 11 year old Shani son of Barsati and 14 year old Golu son of Chandresh.

Both of them have suffered serious chest injuries and their condition is said to be critical. At the same time, 16-year-old Pawan, son of Mithlesh, and 14-year-old son, Jamiruddin, had climbed together on top of the tank to make a reel on the dilapidated water tank near the residence. There was chaos on the spot after the accident. After the information, many officers including DM Shivsharanappa GN and SSP Abhishek Mahajan reached the spot. Relief and rescue operations were started. Poklane was called on the spot and the debris was removed. Food and water were delivered to the children through ropes.

Due to water all around the water tank, a hydraulic platform crane was called from Gorakhpur for the rescue operation. It has a lift, which goes up to a height of 135 feet via a staircase. The first hydraulic crane was trialled on the main road. During this time, there was a technical fault in its lift sensor. After this a crane was called from Lucknow. Due to the long distance it started getting late so some other way of rescue was found.

After this, a road was constructed to reach the tank. Soon the work of building 150 meters of road was started. With the help of three JCBs and one Poklane, 120 meters of road was prepared by late night. Then the weather turned bad. After this the help of Air Force was sought. The Army rescued two children trapped on a water tank using an Air Force helicopter and took them to Gorakhpur.
