In the month of Jyeshtha, the Tuesdays are celebrated as 'Bada Mangal' or 'Budhwa Mangal'. This month holds special significance in Hinduism, as it is believed that on one of these Tuesdays, Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman first met. This festival symbolizes not only religious devotion but also mutual love and service. Due to the occurrence of an extra month this year, there will be a total of eight Bada Mangals in Jyeshtha.

First Bada Mangal: May 5

Second Bada Mangal: May 12

Third Bada Mangal: May 19

Fourth Bada Mangal: May 26

Fifth Bada Mangal: June 2

Sixth Bada Mangal: June 9

Seventh Bada Mangal: June 16

Eighth Bada Mangal: June 23

Favorite Offerings for Lord Hanuman on Bada Mangal

Bundi Laddus are considered Lord Hanuman's favorite. It is believed that offering these can help mitigate planetary afflictions.

Besan Laddus made with pure desi ghee are also offered to bring prosperity and happiness to devotees.

Imarti and Jalebi are commonly offered on this day, as they are favorites of Bajrangbali.

Tulsi Leaves should be included in the offerings, as Lord Hanuman does not accept offerings without them.

Sweet Betel Leaf is considered auspicious for success in endeavors when offered to Hanuman.

Roti Offering made from wheat flour, jaggery, and ghee can also be presented on Bada Mangal.

Religious Significance of Bada Mangal

According to ancient texts, it was on a Tuesday in the month of Jyeshtha that Lord Hanuman first met Lord Ram. Additionally, during this time, Bajrangbali is said to have humbled the pride of Bhima by taking the form of an old monkey, which is why it is worshipped as 'Budhwa Mangal'. It is believed that performing charitable acts and hosting community meals during this time brings prosperity and double rewards.

Recommended Practices

On Bada Mangal, simply visiting the temple is not enough; serving water and food to those in need is considered the highest form of service to Lord Hanuman. The amount of charity one gives, according to their faith, is what is deemed most virtuous.
