Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag received a 25 percent match fee fine after he confessed to using a vape inside the dressing room during an IPL match. The Assam cricketer received relief from his punishment because he did not receive any suspension which would have resulted in his punishment being extended beyond the current fine.
Parag needs to rethink his belief that the matter ended because the BCCI launched its investigation which will bring severe consequences for both the player and the Rajasthan Royals organization within upcoming days.
The Rajasthan Royals skipper lost some of his public reputation after The RR vs PBKS IPL match which took place a few days ago. In viral footage that spread quickly online, Parag was seen vaping inside the dressing room, and officials reported the matter to the match referee.
Parag received a 25 percent match fee penalty which allowed him to continue playing in IPL. The BCCI issued a warning to him and his team because they were still evaluating the situation for potential disciplinary measures.
Parag lost his good standing with fans after he faced criticism from IPL supporters for violating the Code of Conduct while people thought the BCCI punishment he received was too lenient.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia expressed his anger about Parag's behavior during a Saturday news conference at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai. He warned both Parag and the Rajasthan Royals that the board would execute disciplinary actions against anyone who broke the established regulations.
Devajit Saikia commented: “We are exploring [options] because in our press release, we had very clearly mentioned we were exploring some other options, how to act against the teams which are violating the norms. We will be taking some action. And we are looking at the various terms and conditions and protocols of the IPL, how the teams should behave. It is not only about the players or officials.”
Riyan Parag responds to criticism with the knock:
The 25 percent fee penalty was accepted by Parag who chose not to make any public remarks about it. The RR captain used his batting skills to respond emphatically to the Delhi Capitals bowlers.
The Rajasthan Royals lost two players in their IPL 2026 match against the Delhi Capitals when both Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal got dismissed. The team required a player who could establish a new batting foundation and Parag achieved this by easily defeating the Capitals bowling attack.

He scored 90 runs from 50 balls at a strike rate of 180 and came close to achieving a historic century. The Rajasthan Royals reached a total of 225 for 6 due to his outstanding batting performance.
The Riyan Parag vaping scandal marks the second major problem which Rajasthan Royals have experienced during their IPL 2026 season. The Royals manager Romi Bhinder faced BCCI disciplinary action before this incident when he violated Code of Conduct rules by using a mobile phone in the dugout.
The IPL Anti-Corruption and Security Unit investigated the case after which the BCCI decided to impose a Rs 1 lakh fine on the manager because they considered his explanation insufficient to warrant suspension or ban.
