Bradley Walsh halted BBC's Blankety Blank as he cackled with laughter on Saturday evening. The iconic TV host announced "the most disappointing" answer that they had ever had on the show, which left the studio audience groaning in disapproval.

This week in the quiz show, Brad was joined by Joe Marler, Sue Perkins, Trevor Nelson, Josh Pugh, Tasha Ghouri and Sara Barron as they filled in the missing blanks to help to win some brilliant prizes for some very lucky contestants. One of the phrases on the episode was: "I met an alien down the pub the other day. In order to get along with humans, you only need one word. Fill in the blank." One of the non-celebrity contestants, Glen, was first to answer as he said: "Just say 'hello'."

The audience collectively groaned, sparking an outburst of laughter from Bradley. He howled: "I've never heard an audience so disappointed on this show! The whole audience was like that - 'ohhh'."

The awkward moment follows a number of complaints about the show, back in April, as viewers slammed some of the questions for being "ridiculous".

Taking to X, previously called Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Not funny anymore really. Maybe past its selll by date and celebs aren't good #BlanketyBlank."

Another contributed: "The blank questions don't seem to be like they used to be. #blanketyblank."

A third individual remarked: "Most of the questions are so ridiculous with no obvious answer. No wonder they don't score. #blanketyblank."

The Chase host Bradley initially began presenting Blankety Blank six years ago, succeeding the late Paul O'Grady. The programme originally launched in the 70s and was presented by the late Terry Wogan.

Les Dawson stepped into Terry Wogan's shoes in 1984. He remained wth the show until its 1990 cancellation.

Bradley was later recruited to host the reboot of Blankety Blank when the BBC revived it in 2021. He had previously hosted a one off festive special of the format in 2020.

While the show offered an array of prizes the one that became most coveted was the Blankety Blank cheque book and pen, which was awarded to all contestants no matter how well they did on the show.
