IPL 2026: Suryakumar Yadav’s Poor Form Continues As Mumbai Indians Star Falls To CSK Debutant

CSK vs MI IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav again failed to transform his quick start into a substantial score against Chennai Super Kings, falling to debutant Ramakrishna Ghosh for just 21 runs.
This wicket extends his slump in the current season, having accumulated only 183 runs in nine matches. He attempted an aggressive shot off Ghosh's length ball, but Dewald Brevis at deep backward point caught him cleanly, securing Ghosh's first IPL wicket.
MI had won the toss and chose to bat first during their ongoing match against the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side.
MI captain Hardik Pandya noted the pitch was favorable for run-scoring, recalling their previous game, which saw 243 runs yet ended in a loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad. He urged the team to play optimally and sustain a positive atmosphere despite adversity.
"Looks like a good track. The way we batted in the last game, we want to give our batters another opportunity to score runs. We have to play our best cricket and see what happens. The mood has been good; it's been challenging. We have to fight. It's about playing for pride as well," Hardik Pandya was heard as saying at the toss.
The Hardik Pandya-led team and the Chennai franchise, both five-time IPL champions, have underperformed this season.
Ruturaj Gaikwad's squad has struggled, winning only three of eight matches, and aims to mount a strong comeback to remain competitive. They are seventh in the points table.
The Mumbai team has endured even worse results, sitting ninth in the points table with six losses in eight matches. Under Hardik Pandya, the playoff contenders seek a draw after losing.
