New Delhi:Chennai Super Kings (CSK) debutant all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh took a brilliant catch to dismiss Mumbai Indians (MI) opener Will Jacks in the IPL 2026 clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, May 2.

MI opted to bat first in the must-win clash and made two changes to their playing XI, with Raghu Sharma making his debut, and Krish Bhagat replacing Ashwani. CSK also made two changes in their team, with Ramakrishna Ghosh coming in place of Gurjapneet and Prashant Veer replacing Akeal Hosein.

MI got off to a disappointing start as Anshul Kamboj removed Will Jacks for 1 run in the second over. He bowled a full-length delivery, and the ball moved away a bit from the surface. Ghosh dived forward at a deep backward point to grab it with both hands.

After the early setback, Ryan Rickelton and Naman Dhir stitched a 58-run partnership for the second wicket. Rickelton played attacking shots and smashed five maximums in the powerplay. He scored 37 runs off 24 balls and was removed by Noor Ahmed in the seventh over.

After his dismissal, Naman Dhir forged a 40-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav to help MI recover. But Ghosh broke the partnership by dismissing Suryakumar for 21 (12) in the 11th over.

Earlier, there was a lot of buzz around MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma’s return in this crucial match, but the duo again failed to make it in their respective playing XIs. Dhoni sustained a calf injury before the season and has not featured in any match for CSK, while Rohit picked up a hamstring injury while batting against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 12, and has missed four consecutive matches for MI.
