Ramakrishna Ghosh made his Indian Premier League debut for Chennai Super Kings in their Indian Premier League 2026 encounter with Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram Stadium. The Maharashtra all-rounder, 28, was signed at the 2025 IPL Auction for Rs 30 lakhs and then retained at the same sum of Rs 30 lakhs for the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League following a stint in the domestic setup of the Indian cricket league.
Ghosh is a right-handed medium-fast bowler and a tail end batsman who gained a significant amount of attention after picking up 7 wickets for 42 runs in a Vijay Hazare Trophy encounter between Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh.
Ghosh etched his name in the records by becoming the 12th player in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy to have taken 7 wickets in an innings. In the domestic level, the same right handed all-rounder had previously struck a very rapid 64 from only 27 balls against the same opponent that he would face on his debut, Mumbai Indians in domestic cricket.
A Fine Domestic Track Record Prior to IPL Debut
Ghosh played for Maharashtra in all forms of the game. In the First Class level, he has taken 28 wickets and scored 455 runs from 15 innings with his highest individual score being 99 runs against Gujarat in 2016. In the List A format, he has picked up 21 wickets including best figures of 7/42 and has contributed runs lower down in the order.
In T20 format, Ghosh has had little experience. However, he had a fine season in the year 2020-2021 where he picked up the majority of his wickets with the ball, but was quite adept with his batting in this format too. The medium fast pace bowling of Ghosh is primarily steady but he is able to swing the ball both ways with speeds around 140 KMPH.

The Path to IPL and Playing Experience
Ghosh started off his career under the guidance of his father at Shekhar Ghosh Cricket Academy in Nashik. After gaining experience playing for age-group teams in Maharashtra, Ghosh had his first-class debut in the year 2022 after an injury layoff period.
The budding cricketer was signed by CSK in the 2025 auction, since then, he has been a part of CSK and will soon be making his debut in the Indian Premier League, an event he will always remember in the early days of his career.
His ability to both bowl quick and strike the ball will allow him to offer support with the ball when needed, while at times he could contribute handy runs to the batting order too-a role that CSK envisages for him, a 'pace-bowling all-rounder', according to management. His inclusion in the team against Mumbai Indians signifies the faith reposed in him by the franchise.
