Donald Trump has been accused of being "not well" following a flurry of late-night social media posts, amongst them a preview of the planned redesign of Washington DC's iconic reflecting pool.
Beginning at 11.03pm local time, the US president shared an AI-generated image depicting himself, JD Vance, and Marc Rubio paddling shirtless in the famous Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which is set to be coloured "American flag blue" using an "industrial-grade pool" surface, rather than having its granite floor restored.
His burst of activity on Truth Social also featured three further images of the Reflecting Pool, one of which suggested it appeared neglected during Barack Obama's presidency, alongside another depicting how it will look once current renovations are complete.
The Department of the Interior stated: "Work remains on track for completion by the end of May. The last major renovation of the Reflecting Pool was completed in 2012."
Never one to confine himself to a single subject, Trump also posted a photograph of Melania Trump smiling in the aftermath of the White House Correspondent Shooting last weekend, which law enforcement officials have described as yet another assassination attempt on the president.
He also turned his attention to Hakeem Jeffries, the Democrat Minority Leader of the US House of Representatives, branding him "low IQ" and a "thug." Another image depicted Trump's face superimposed alongside the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The president has previously stated that having his likeness carved into the mountain alongside George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln "sounds like a good idea."
In 2025, Representative Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., introduced a bill "to arrange for the carving of the figure of President Donald J. Trump on Mount Rushmore National Memorial," but the bill never made it out of committee.
They further added: "The light-blue base coat visible over the weekend is a standard step in the multilayer process and serves as the foundation for the final finish."
Further AI-generated pictures shared by Trump during his flurry of posts included one portraying him clutching several UNO cards bearing the word 'Wild'. The caption reads "I have all the cards."
Compiling a list of Trump's posts, political commentator Harry Sisson wrote: "All of this took place in under an hour. This man is not well."
Doubts surrounding the president's wellbeing have dogged him since his return to the White House last year, when he became the oldest person ever to be inaugurated into the role.
During his address to an enthusiastic gathering of senior citizens, the president maintained that, despite being 79 and approaching his 80th birthday in June, he does not consider himself a senior citizen. "And here in the Sunshine State, we've issued 2.5 million Florida seniors over $13 billion," Trump told the cheering crowd.
"Now, think of that. Now, I don't happen to be a senior. I'm much younger than you," he joked. "I'm a much younger man than you.
"Look at you, old guys, he further added. "Wouldn't you like to be my age?""
