A brutal attack ona pregnant teenager has led to the arrest of two 18-year-olds. According to authorities, Lucas Hayden is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, Ja'Dyia Smith, who was five months pregnant at the time. The incident reportedly occurred on April 11 at Smith's residence, located roughly 100 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia, US . Police say officers from the Warner Robins Police Department responded to a disturbance call at approximately 12.15pm. Upon arrival, they learned the couple had been involved in an escalating argument that turned violent.
According to a police report cited by WMAZ, the altercation began in one part of the home before leading to the kitchen.
Investigators allege Hayden dragged Smith into her bedroom, where he kicked her in the stomach despite her pregnancy. The report also states he made a chilling remark during the assault, allegedly saying he intended to harm the unborn child.
Authorities further allege that Hayden used Smith's own leggings to choke her, wrapping them around her neck, and later continued the attack using his arm.
The situation reportedly escalated further when Hayden took Smith's phone. In response, Smith allegedly attempted to run him over with her car as he tried to leave the property.
Witnesses told police she made multiple attempts before Hayden reportedly pulled her from the vehicle, took her keys, and re-entered the home. He then allegedly locked her out before eventually allowing her back inside, where the confrontation resumed.
Both teenagers were arrested on April 20 and charged with aggravated assault. Under Georgia law, a conviction on that charge can carry a prison sentence ranging from one to 20 years.
Hayden faces additional charges, including kidnapping and second-degree criminal damage to property. He is currently being held without bond at the Houston County Detention Center. Smith, meanwhile, was released on April 30 after posting a $5,000 surety bond.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not released further details.
