With The Devil Wears Prada 2 already taking over the box office, fans have been seeing just what is in store for movie buffs in 2026. That includes multiple Marvel projects.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday are much-anticipated projects that fans are looking forward to. However, Meryl Streep doesn't see any appeal in them.

When speaking with Hits Radio, Meryl Streep subtly posed the idea forward that the formula the Marvel Cinematic Universe was feeding its fans was much too repetitive.

“I feel like you get a realistic view. I think we tend to Marvel-ize the movies now. We got the villains, and we got the good guys, and it's so boring.”

She continued, “What's really interesting about life is that some of the heroes are flawed and some of the villains are human and interesting and have their own strengths. So that's what I like about this (movie). It's messier.”

The mass following of superhero films has created an entirely different level of craze. Streep isn't the first to speak against just how repetitive this has become, because movies tend to follow the same pattern with a hero and a villain and no depth in between.

Previously, Variety conducted an interview with Jennifer Aniston and she spoke up against the rise of superhero media. “It wasn’t until the last couple of years when these streaming services were just sort of exploding with this amount of quality that I actually started to think, 'Wow, that’s better than what I just did.' And then you’re seeing what’s available out there and it’s just diminishing and diminishing in terms of, it's big Marvel movies.”

The Devil Wears Prada 2 was released on May 1 and also stars Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci alongside Meryl Streep.
