In farming, tractor is not just a machine but the biggest strength of the farmer. But when someone snatches this power fraudulently, the pain is not only financial but also emotional. One such shocking case has come to light from Ujjain district, where farmers were cheated on a large scale in the name of ‘tractor rent’.
The simple farmers of the village were given the dream of earning more and their tractors were taken away and then sold. By the time the farmers came to know the truth, it was too late. Now this entire ‘tractor fraud’ has been exposed due to police action.
How did the game of ‘tractor fraud’ work?
In this entire case the accused’s tactics were very cunning. The accused used to go from village to village searching for such farmers who had tractors but had less opportunities for additional income.
He would explain to the farmers that by renting their tractors they could earn good money every month. He used to win their trust by luring them with higher rent. Once trust was established, the farmers themselves handed over their tractors to him. The real game of ‘tractor fraud’ began from here.
Disappeared with tractor, then used to sell it in other districts
As soon as the accused took possession of the tractor, he would gradually lose contact. Neither the rent was received nor the tractor was returned. Investigation revealed that the accused used to take these tractors to other districts and sell them or mortgage them. With this he would get a huge amount of money immediately. According to the police, this ‘tractor fraud’ was spread apart from Ujjain to Indore, Dhar and Ratlam.
20 tractors recovered, loss worth Rs 1.80 crore
After receiving continuous complaints, the police took this matter seriously. Investigation was initiated and the accused was arrested on the basis of technical evidence.
Police have recovered a total of 20 tractors from different places. Their estimated price is said to be around Rs 1 crore 80 lakh. This revelation points towards a larger network of ‘tractor fraud’, in which more people may be involved.
Identification and arrest of the accused
The name of the accused arrested by the police has been stated as Rafiq father Ganimohammed. He was involved in such frauds for a long time. To avoid arrest, he kept changing his mobile numbers and locations again and again. But the police caught him on the basis of technical surveillance and informer’s information. A case was registered on 29 April 2026 and the accused was arrested the very next day on 30 April.
Police action and further investigation
The police is now interrogating the accused in this entire matter. He has been produced in the court and taken on remand, so that the entire network behind this ‘tractor fraud’ can be traced. Police suspect that more people may be involved in this, who used to help in such fake deals. In this action, the station in-charge and his team played an important role under the guidance of SDOP Khachrod.
