Filmmaker Priyadarshan has firmly dismissed rumours of a fallout between Akshay Kumar and Tabu over alleged edits in Bhooth Bangla. The buzz suggested that Tabu was unhappy after some of her scenes were reportedly cut from the film.
Reacting strongly to the speculation, Priyadarshan rubbished the claims and clarified that no such issue exists.
“I don’t know why and who is spreading this negative news. I am the director of Bhooth Bangla, and I decide what to keep and what not to. The film is a big success, but yet, some are trying to spread negativity. Tabu is not upset at all. I have done eight films with her, and if she was upset, she would have told me. She is happy. Everything she shot for is a part of the film,” he told Pinkvilla.
‘Akshay never interferes with edits’The director also addressed claims that Akshay Kumar had a role in the editing process, denying any such involvement.
“Also, Akshay didn’t ask me to edit any part; he never does. I do my work with honesty, and every actor comes and sees the film before the release. Whoever is spreading such rumours should be ashamed,” he added.
Film continues steady run despite mixed reviewsBhooth Bangla, which released on April 17, marks Priyadarshan’s reunion with Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav. Backed by Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape of Good Films, the film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi in a key role.
Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, the film has picked up momentum at the box office, with word of mouth working in its favour.
The film also marks one of the last on-screen appearances of veteran actor Asrani, best remembered for his iconic role in Sholay. He passed away on October 20, 2025, at the age of 84.
He will also be seen in Haiwaan, another project featuring Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan.
