Another bad news is coming for the people of the country who are facing the brunt of inflation. There may soon be a big increase in the prices of petrol and diesel. Quoting government sources, it is reported that the government is fully prepared to increase fuel prices. Although it has not been officially announced yet, the huge increase in the prices of commercial gas cylinders from May 1, 2026 has given indications of the future. The price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased by ₹ 993, after which its price has now reached ₹ 3,071.50.
Why are oil prices increasing?
In fact, the prices of crude oil are continuously skyrocketing in the international market. The war between America and Iran has taken the oil crisis to its peak in the global market. Due to this, the price of crude oil has crossed $ 100 per barrel. Indian oil companies have to buy very expensive oil internationally, due to which they are incurring huge financial losses. The prices of petrol and diesel have already increased in many countries of the world and now there is every possibility of it increasing in India too. However, it is not yet clear by how much the prices per liter will be increased.
Big statement of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri
Amid growing speculation, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has tried to clarify the situation. He said that despite huge fluctuations in the prices of crude oil in the global market, the Indian government has so far not allowed the prices of petrol and diesel to increase. The minister stressed that India has not allowed ‘panic’ to become its policy. He assured that the supply of fuel to the kitchens of the country is continuing smoothly and the government has tried to provide relief to the general public even in difficult times.
