Today marks the start of a new month, and with it, several rules have also changed. These changes, effective May 1, 2026, will not only affect your banking habits but will also have a direct impact on your kitchen budget and safety standards. So, let's learn about the changes taking place today.
A sharp rise in LPG cylinder prices
has hit the common man hard on the very first day of the month. Oil companies have increased the price of a 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder by approximately ₹993.
OTP will be mandatory for gas delivery.
The process of home delivery of gas cylinders has completely changed. To prevent theft and black marketing, a delivery authentication code has been made mandatory. An OTP will now be sent to your registered mobile number, and you won't receive your cylinder without showing it to the delivery person.
New ATM Withdrawal Rules
Following the RBI's approval to increase interchange fees, banks have tightened ATM usage rules. Banks like HDFC Bank and Bandhan Bank have also included cash withdrawals via UPI in their free transaction limits.
