As the final season of The Boysis currently streaming, its actor, Antony Starr, who plays the ruthless and sadistic Homelander, recently weighed on shows with poor endings. In an interview, he was asked how The Boys will be concluded.
In a recent chat with Wired, Antony was asked: “Will The Boys be next joining the list of controversial endings or provide a satisfying conclusion?”
Antony went on to give a safe answer by saying that no show can have the perfect ending that satisfies every fan.
Antony answered with a question, “Has any show ever provided an ending that satisfied everyone? I don’t think you can because everyone is different. Everyone wants different things.”
He then went to talk about shows who had the potential to end cinematically but played it safe and did not take any risks. Starr spoke without naming the series, but hawk-eyed fans assumed that he was talking about Netflix’s Stranger Things.
He said that he was left confused after the series ended. He added that he was disappointed as nobody got killed at the end.
He said, “Something just finished - I won’t say what - and nobody died. I was just scratching my head going ‘there’s nowhere else to go, this is the end of the run, kill some people!’”
Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, also known as the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Thingsended its almost decade long run with its fifth and final season.
The last season was released in three parts at the end of 2025, building anticipation and excitement. However, after the finale aired, the show received mixed reviews, majorly for playing safe. It waved a happy goodbye to all the central characters at the end except Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). It appears that sacrificed herself to ensure she won’t be used to create any more super weapons or another Vecna/Henry or more parallel worlds and strange planets. But the jury’s out on whether Eleven in fact faked her own death.
The final season of The Boys premiered with two episodes that released on Prime Video on April 8, 2026, with episodes then releasing weekly until the final episode on May 20, 2026.
