Jordan Spieth says he has faith that the right decision will be made when it comes to whether or not players competing for LIV Golf will be allowed back on the PGA Tour. However, Scottie Scheffler gave a blunt response when quizzed for his verdict.

The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) confirmed on Wednesday that it would withdraw its funding for LIV Golf at the end of the 2026 season. As a result, there is growing speculation about the future of LIV and what the update from PIF could mean for the players on the circuit.

The PGA Tour allowed players on LIV to be welcomed back to the Tour earlier this year through the Returning Member Program. This resulted in Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed returning to the PGA Tour, albeit with financial penalties, with Reed currently serving a ban that will come to an end in August.

There is now uncertainty about the future of LIV, with a report in ESPN recently claiming that several players had their representatives approach the PGA Tour to explore the possibility of a return.

With the Cadillac Championship taking place this week at Doral, Florida, Spieth - who is second after a seven-under-par opening round on Thursday - has given his verdict on the potential for players on LIV to return to the PGA Tour.

"I think there's just too many unknowns for me to have a good gauge on what would happen," Spieth said, via ESPN.

He added: "If there's a system for Brooks and a system for Patrick Reed, does that stay the same for guys in the same category as those two coming back or does it change now?

"Does it change for guys who sued and dropped their membership?

"There's just a lot of different things that happened over the last four years for that," Spieth continued. "I'm kind of glad I'm not in that room, and I trust the guys that are in that room to make the right decision."

Scheffler is also competing at the Cadillac Championship, where he had a one-under-par opening round and is currently tied-27th heading into Friday.

The 29-year-old was also asked about the future of LIV players and if they could return to the PGA Tour, but gave a blunt response.

"I just got off the golf course," Scheffler said. "I don't know what you want from me," the four-time major champion added with a laugh.
