According to astrologers, this time both the beginning and end of the month of May are happening on the full moon date, which is considered a rare event.

Due to this special yoga, the entire month is being said to be extremely auspicious for worship, bathing and charity. It is believed that religious activities done during this period can bring positive changes in life and wishes can be fulfilled.

The month of May started with full moon

May begins with Vaishakh Purnima on 1st, which is also known as Buddha Purnima. This date is considered extremely sacred in both Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

On this day, devotees take bath in the morning, offer prayers and donate to the needy. It is believed that the results of virtuous deeds done on this day increase manifold.

According to religious beliefs, worshiping Lord Vishnu and donating water on this day is especially fruitful. This day is special in the Buddhist tradition because Lord Buddha was born, attained enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana on this date.

Purnima Tithi also falls on the last day of May i.e. 31st May. This will be Jyestha Adhik Purnima, which is considered very special in itself.

Adhikamaas comes approximately once in two and a half to three years and the full moon falling during this period is considered extremely auspicious. It is also called the full moon of Purushottam month.

Worshiping Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi on this day is believed to bring happiness, prosperity and mental peace.

According to religious texts, this full moon has special significance. It is believed that by fasting, worshiping and donating on this day, a person gets success and positive results. It is also called ‘Sarva Siddhidayini’ date.

Keeping fast throughout this month, especially on the full moon day, is considered beneficial. Also, chanting the mantras of Lord Vishnu and listening to Satyanarayan Katha is said to give auspicious results.

Apart from this, donating food, clothes and money by taking bath in Ganga, Yamuna or any holy river is also considered extremely virtuous.
