Auto January–April 2026 Report : Amid global tensions, fluctuations were clearly visible in the Indian Auto Market in the beginning of 2026. Sales figures from January to April show that there was a change in total industry sales every month. Where total sales in January were around 5.14 lakh units. At the same time, in February it came down to around 3.94 lakh units. There was a slight increase in sales in March and sales reached 4.43 lakh units, but there was a slowdown again in April and it was around 3.98 lakh units.

Maruti Suzuki’s dominance continues
While in terms of sales, Maruti Suzuki maintained its number one position by selling the maximum number of vehicles every month, the company sold more than 2.18 lakh units in January, which fell to 1.56 lakh in February. March saw a rise again and sales reached 1.75 lakh, while in April it fell slightly to 1.58 lakh.

Tata and Mahindra collision
Strong competition was seen between Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra. Tata Motors sold around 64,000 vehicles in January, while this increased to more than 67,000 in March. At the same time, Mahindra also sold more than 65,000 units in January, but by April its sales came down to around 54,000. Both the companies maintain their strong hold in the SUV segment.

Kia India
Kia India had a steady performance, with sales ranging between 25,000 to 30,000 units per month. Honda Cars India had lower sales, ranging between 4,000 to 6,000 units. With this, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India sold between 8,000 and 10,000 units. Sales of MG Motor India and Renault India also remained at moderate level.
