Chef Ranveer Brar has given information about some such drinks.
To stay cool during the summer months, instead of reaching for cold drinks and ice creams available in the market, you should focus on traditional remedies that have stood the test of time. Although many people are forgetting these old practices, incorporating them into your diet can help prevent summer- health problems. Let’s take a look at these healthy drinks.
Wood Apple Drink
According to Chef Ranveer Brar, the bael fruit not only provides cooling effect but also has abundant pulp, which keeps the stomach full for a long time. Given the intense heat of summer, it is advisable to consume foods that make the stomach feel full, thereby preventing heatstroke. You can make bael ka sharbat an important part of your summer routine. In Ayurveda, the fruits and leaves of Bael are considered important due to their medicinal properties. It helps in keeping the digestive system healthy and provides relief from problems like diarrhea, dysentery, acidity and stomach cramps.
Method of making sherbet
To make bael sherbet, take a ripe bael fruit, extract its pulp, add some water to it and mash it well with your hands. Remove fibers and seeds from the mixture. Add jaggery, black salt and roasted cumin powder as per taste, and then add cold water as required before serving. Don’t forget to garnish it with fresh mint leaves and lemon juice.
Sattu sherbet
In summer, a drink made from Sattu not only keeps the body cool but also keeps the stomach full. It is an excellent source of protein. In Ayurveda, Sattu is considered nourishing and cooling. Especially in Bihar, Sattu Sharbat is a popular choice in summers. It can be made either sweet or salty. The salty version is considered more beneficial, containing ingredients like roasted cumin powder, chopped onions, lemon juice and green chillies.
Vitamin C rich drinks
Ayurveda considers Amla very beneficial. It offers many benefits ranging from skin and hair health to overall well-being. In summers, you can make Amla as a refreshing drink. Chef Ranveer Brar has shared a recipe for this drink. First of all, cut the amla. Then, take some Amba turmeric or normal ginger and chop finely. Put both the ingredients in a pan, and add sugar and water as per your choice. Then, add some fennel seeds. Boil the mixture, let it cool, and then grind it into a smooth paste. Now, add fresh amla and a small piece of grated ginger to a large jar. Add a pinch of black pepper powder to this mixture. Next, add the prepared amla paste in the desired quantity. Add ice cubes, add some water, and mix well. Finally, add a pinch of salt, a few mint leaves and some lemon juice. Your Vitamin C rich Amla Sharbat is ready.
Other Suggested Drinks
Chef Ranveer Brar suggests two more drinks to maintain health in summers: one made with ragi flour and the other with kolam rice. Ragi is a grain whose taste is sometimes hot and sometimes cold; However, it is suitable for a cooling drink in summer. Additionally, ‘Tanka Torani’ drink made from Kolam rice is offered to Lord Jagannath. This summer, enjoy all these drinks to cool off and beat the heat.
