New Delhi: In the last week of April, the weather across the country has taken a sudden turn. While people were struggling with the scorching heat throughout the month, on April 30, sudden rain, hailstorm and strong winds changed the situation. This unexpected change has given relief to the people, but at the same time it has also increased the fear of danger.
According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), from May 1 for the next two days, the combined effect of strong storm, hail and heavy rain will be seen in many states of the country. Winds blowing at a speed of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour can severely affect life. In such a situation, the question is arising whether this change is a sign of relief or the beginning of a new problem.
Many weather systems together are creating danger
According to the Meteorological Department, this change has not come suddenly. Many systems like Western Disturbance and Cyclonic Circulation are becoming active and affecting the weather of the entire country. Its impact is clearly visible from North India to North-East and South India.
There is a danger of hailstorm and lightning in many states, while the effect of heatwave still continues in some areas. That is, both relief and risk remain together, making the next 48 hours very important.
Impact on life and agriculture
Due to strong winds, there is a possibility of falling of trees, disruption of power supply and impact on traffic. This time can also prove to be challenging for farmers, because hailstorm can damage the crops. People have been advised to remain alert and keep an eye on the latest weather information.
Orange alert in Delhi-NCR
The weather has suddenly taken a U-turn in Delhi-NCR. Strong storm, rain and hail have brought down the temperature. Incidents of trees falling and traffic disruption have been reported at many places.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert and warned that winds can blow at a speed of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. Along with this, there is a possibility of increase in incidents of lightning and thunder.
Yellow alert in Uttar Pradesh
The impact of weather is increasing in most parts of Uttar Pradesh. Storm and rain activities have intensified from Western UP to Purvanchal. Yellow alert has been issued in many districts.
There is a high possibility of hailstorm and lightning in Bundelkhand and eastern districts. In recent hours, a drop in temperature has been recorded due to dust storm and light to moderate rain.
Danger with relief in Bihar
The temperature has dropped in Bihar due to strong winds and rain, which has brought relief from the heat. But along with this the danger of lightning and hailstorm has also increased.
Alert has been issued in about 22 districts. People have been advised to avoid going in open places, under trees and around water bodies.
Weather patterns changed in Rajasthan
A change in the weather has been seen in Rajasthan amid the scorching heat. It is cloudy in many districts and there has been light to moderate rain.
Due to strong winds the temperature has dropped by 1 to 3 degrees. In some areas, the speed of the storm can reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, due to which the risk of dust storms and road accidents can increase.
Effect of strong winds in Punjab-Haryana
There is a possibility of rain and strong winds along with thunder in Punjab. Wind speed can reach 50 to 60 kilometers per hour, which can affect crops and power systems.
There is a similar situation in Haryana also. The temperature has dropped due to strong winds and rain, but the danger of lightning and falling of trees remains.
Rain and snowfall in hilly states
There is continuous rain and hailstorm in Uttarakhand due to western disturbance. Snowfall has been recorded in the high altitude areas, due to which the temperature has dropped drastically.
In Himachal Pradesh, the effect of rain and hail has been seen in areas like Shimla and Manali. The cold has increased due to snowfall in the high altitude areas.
In Jammu and Kashmir also, due to rain and snowfall, the temperature has dropped and the effect of cold has increased.
Threat of storm in northeastern states
The effect of cyclonic circulation is being seen in the north-eastern states including Assam and Nagaland. A warning of heavy rain, storm and lightning has been issued here.
Due to geographical location, the risk of floods and landslides may also increase, due to which people have been advised to remain alert.
Pre-monsoon active in South India
Pre-monsoon activities have intensified in South India. Alert of heavy rain and storm has been issued in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
There is a possibility of sea surge in the coastal areas, due to which fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea.
