The International Monetary Fund (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms in 11 states, including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, today (May 1). Lucknow recorded a drop of more than 7 degrees in the maximum temperature.

Heavy rain and storm warning issued in 11 states including UP and Bihar
Thunderstorms and heavy rains are expected to worsen the situation across the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms in 11 states, including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, on May 1st. Strong winds with speeds of up to 60 to 70 kilometers per hour are expected during this period. According to the Meteorological Department, moderate to heavy rain is expected in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Nagaland, and West Bengal today. Hailstorms are also likely in several states.
Delhi Weather:
According to the Meteorological Department, an alert for heavy rain and hail has been issued for Delhi on May 1st. Wind speeds of 50 to 60 kmph are expected during this period. The maximum temperature in the capital is expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius today, while the minimum temperature is expected to reach 24 degrees Celsius.
Hailstorms in Uttar Pradesh:
While the sudden rain, storms, and hailstorms brought some relief to people battling the intense heat and sunshine in Uttar Pradesh, they also exacerbated their hardships. From Lucknow to Noida, Ghaziabad, and several other districts in Uttar Pradesh, a series of sunshine, clouds, strong winds, rain, and hailstorms occurred in a single day. The Meteorological Department has predicted similar changes in the coming days.
The temperature dropped by 7 degrees in Lucknow. The weather in
Lucknow was pleasant on Thursday. Due to the effect of cold winds, the maximum temperature dropped by more than 7 degrees. While the mercury was 39.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, it dropped to 31.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday. The minimum temperature also dropped to 23 degrees Celsius. Light rain fell in many parts of the city in the morning and late at night, providing considerable relief from the heat. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature may rise again from today, Friday.
The IMD has predicted hailstorms in several districts across the state. A hailstorm warning has been issued for several districts, including Banda, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Ghazipur, and Ballia. Partly cloudy skies and thunderstorms are also expected
in Purvanchal and other parts of western Uttar Pradesh.

Bihar Weather:
Heavy rain and storms are expected in Gaya, Patna, Nalanda, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Saran, Bhojpur, Buxar, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Saharsa, Purnia, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Araria, Kishanganj, Khagaria, and Bhagalpur in Bihar, bordering Uttar Pradesh. The maximum temperature in Patna today could reach 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature could reach 23 degrees Celsius.
Rain and storm alert in Rajasthan:
A heavy rain and storm alert has been issued for Jodhpur, Alwar, Sikar, Churu, Bikaner, Barmer, Karauli, and Hanumangarh in Rajasthan. Winds will blow at speeds of up to 50 km per hour. The maximum temperature in Jaipur today will be 40 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be 27 degrees Celsius.
