On which days will banks remain closed in May?
According to the Reserve Bank of India, banks will remain closed for a total of 13 days in May 2026. Talking about the dates of bank holidays, these are 1, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28 and 31 May, on which there will be holidays in banks. However, all these holidays will not be applicable to the whole of India. Banks will remain closed according to festivals and anniversaries in different states. Relief will be provided through digital banking
If you have to do any important work to the bank like check clearance, loan processing or cash work, then plan well in advance keeping these holidays in mind. At the same time, even if bank branches remain closed, customers need not panic. Online banking, mobile app and ATM services will remain operational 24/7 even during holidays. You can easily do fund transfer (NEFT/RTGS/IMPS) and other important transactions right from the comfort of your home.
SBI card customers will get a shock
If you are from SBI credit card If you use it, your pocket may become loose from 1st May. The bank is going to change the late payment fee i.e. the penalty for late payment. Now you may have to pay heavy charges even on small dues. Apart from this, the conditions for annual fee waiver on some cards have also been tightened.
