Gujarat Titans produced a clinical all-round performance to defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by four wickets in Match 42 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
After being put in to bat, RCB posted 155 in 19.2 overs but never truly managed to build sustained momentum. Virat Kohli looked in sublime touch early, smashing 28 off just 13 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal anchored the innings with a well-made 40 off 24 deliveries. However, once the top order was dismissed, RCB suffered a middle-order collapse.
Rajat Patidar contributed 19, but the likes of Jitesh Sharma, Tim David, and Krunal Pandya failed to capitalise. Late resistance from Romario Shepherd(17) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (15*) helped push the total past 150, but it was never enough on a good batting surface.
For Gujarat Titans, it was a disciplined bowling display. Arshad Khan starred with three wickets, while Rashid Khan and Jason Holder picked up two wickets apiece to keep RCB in check.
In response, Gujarat Titans came out with intent. Shubman Gill led the charge with a blistering 43 off 18 balls, setting the tone early, while Jos Buttler followed it up with an aggressive 39, ensuring GT stayed ahead in the chase.
Despite a brief fightback from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who picked up three wickets, GT’s batting depth proved decisive. Rahul Tewatia played the finisher’s role to perfection, remaining unbeaten on 27 off 17 to guide his side home in just 15.5 overs.
