Renowned economist Jeffrey D. Sachs has expressed that if India maintains its current economic momentum, it could achieve developed nation status by 2047. Speaking at an event organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, he highlighted India's potential on the global stage, offering significant insights into its diplomacy and strategic autonomy that could shape future policy directions.

According to Sachs, India is rapidly emerging as a powerful player in the global economy and could become a cornerstone of global stability and peace in the coming years. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced foreign policy, advising against complete alignment with any single global power. He explicitly stated that India should not join any coalition led by the United States that is openly against China. Sachs believes that disputes between India and China should be resolved bilaterally.

He also shared his views on the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, suggesting that India should distance itself from this initiative. Sachs pointed out that India's historical inclination towards the Non-Aligned Movement remains relevant and could serve as a balanced strategy today. Furthermore, he advocated for India to gain permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council, with China's support being crucial in this regard. He referred to the vision of a developed India by 2047 as not just a goal but a roadmap for the country's long-term economic and social advancement, achievable through appropriate policies and global balance.
