**Baggage Allowances by Class**
Indian Railways has set specific baggage limits for various travel classes:

**AC First Class (1A):** Passengers can carry up to 70 kilograms of luggage without charge.
**AC Two-Tier (2A):** The allowance for this class is 50 kilograms.
**AC Three-Tier (3A) and Sleeper Class (SL):** Both categories allow for 40 kilograms of luggage.
**Second Sitting (2S):** This class has the lowest limit, allowing only 35 kilograms.

**Important Considerations**
**Free Limit:** This is the maximum weight you can carry into the coach without incurring extra fees.

**Marginal Allowance:** A small allowance is provided for luggage that exceeds the free limit, but additional charges will apply based on the excess weight.

**Maximum Limit:** This is the absolute maximum weight you can carry inside the coach, even after paying the necessary fees. If your luggage surpasses this limit, you must arrange for it to be transported in the parcel van, or you risk facing hefty fines.

**Baggage Dimensions Matter**
It's not only the weight that counts; the size of your bags is also crucial. The maximum dimensions for any single item allowed in the coach are 100 cm × 60 cm × 25 cm. If your luggage exceeds these dimensions, even if it is light, you will need to book it as parcel luggage.
