Tezzbuzz Desk- Riyan Parag is now facing punishment after being embroiled in a unique controversy in IPL 2026. Disciplinary action has been taken against the captain of Rajasthan Royals for smoking e-cigarette (vaping) inside the dressing room.
The incident came to light during the match played against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh, when Parag was seen on camera puffing an e-cigarette in the dressing room. The video quickly went viral on social media, after which the matter came to the notice of BCCI.
After investigation, Riyan Parag was found guilty of violating the IPL code of conduct. He has been fined 25 percent of his match fee as punishment, and one demerit point has also been added to his account. It is being told that Parag had accepted his mistake in front of the match referee.
The ban on e-cigarettes has been in place in India since 2019, and smoking and vaping are completely prohibited in places like dressing rooms under cricket board rules. In such a situation, it was considered serious for a captain to violate the rules in this way.
However, if we talk about his performance on the field, Riyan Parag’s bat has not fared much this season. He has scored only 117 runs in 9 matches. Despite this, the performance of Rajasthan Royals under his captaincy has been satisfactory and the team remains in good condition.
It is worth noting that even before in cricket, some players have been seen smoking or vaping, but Parag has become the first player to be punished for such an incident in IPL. Now it will be interesting to see what effect this controversy has on his game and captaincy.
