Even for Gen Z audiences, Aashiqui remains a cultural touchstone from the 1990s. The film not only became a massive blockbuster but also catapulted Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal to overnight stardom.
Its iconic visuals, especially the famous jacket moment, and timeless music continue to echo across tea stalls and small-town streets even today.
In November 2020, Rahul Roy suffered a brain stroke, after which he stepped away from films and public life for a considerable period. Since then, he has maintained a relatively low profile, occasionally sharing glimpses from events and personal moments on social media.

Recently, a video featuring the actor has sparked concern among fans. In the clip, Rahul is seen dancing alongside a content creator, Vanita Ghadage Desai, to Tere Dar Pe Sanam from Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayi, where he starred opposite Pooja Bhatt. While the moment was meant to be light-hearted, it has led to discussions online, with many expressing concern about the actor’s health and well-being.

I am from this era still i love to watch them, listen to them, i guess now very few like us are in this generation. And i am proud of my parents they taught me to respect older generations and feeling pitty for ur parents.”

Responding to the reactions, Rahul Roy posted a note on Instagram, stating, “I do my work with honesty and modesty. I have some legal matters to pay for, and these are not from today—they are from before the brain stroke happened. If you mock my simplicity or make fun of my struggles, it says less about me and more about you. If you are truly so concerned, then help me find some genuine and decent work so I can pay for these cases.”
He added, “At least I am earning through hard work, not by mocking others. And after the brain stroke, it is important for me to stay active. I want to work for as long as I am alive. It keeps my mind active and gives me the sense of purpose and responsibility that I am still working today. Yes, it may hurt a little sometimes, but you cannot break me.”
