Match 41 of IPL saw SRH crush MI by six wickets with eight balls in hand in their own backyard. MI set them a targer of 244 and SRH hardly broke a sweat. They are now 3rd with six wins in nine games while MI are 9th with two victories in eight matches. While Ryan Rickelton’s 100 went in vain, it was Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen who led the charge for SRH.
Salil Arora’s Explosive CameoBut the final nail in MI’s coffin was hammered by 23-year-old Salil Arora. Salil came to the crease with 30 needed from 22. Easy enough but MI could not be given a single whiff of hope. He did not waste any time and slammed 30 not out in 10 balls to take MI over the line. His innings contained two fours and three sixes. It was one of those sixes that became the best moment of the game.

It happened when Jasprit Bumrah was bowling the 18th over and SRH needed 18 from 14. He bowled and Salil smashed it into the stands. But what made the shot even more special was that it was a ‘no look’ shot. Salil’s head never looked up as he completed the stroke and the ball sailed over the ropes with ease. It was packed with disdain as the best bowler in the format was treated casually. A statement made without any noise.
A Statement MadeThe visiting fans cheered while the home supporters fell silent. That stroke brought the asking rate to less than one run per ball and from there it was pretty much a walk in the park.
SRH on Course for Playoffs BerthSalil Arora played a superb cameo of 30* (10) in the 244 run chase. 🥶

SRH recorded the 4th highest successful run chase in IPL history while MI lost a game after scoring over 200 for only the 2nd time in the competition. SRH are looking good to repeat the glory of 2016 as the Playoffs race gets intense while for MI, a record 6th title seems more and more distant.
Who Will Win IPL 2026With 29 league games left, there are still 10 sides fighting for four spots. By May 24, we shall know who they are and on May 31 the champion will be crowned. It remains to be seen if it is an old one or a new one.
