Lucknow. National President of Apni Janata Party and former minister Swami Prasad Maurya held a press conference on Wednesday, raising questions on the law and order situation of Uttar Pradesh and accusing the Yogi Adityanath government of giving protection to criminals. He said that criminal incidents are continuously happening in the state, but the government remains indifferent and law and order is continuously deteriorating.

Referring to the recent incidents in Hardoi, Ghazipur, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Etah and Bulandshahr, Maurya said that in many cases the accused are still absconding. Referring to the incident in Khaga area of Fatehpur, he said that in the case of gang rape of Sadhna Maurya, no arrest has been made despite a reward of Rs 25,000 being announced on the main accused. Also accused the remaining accused of getting political protection.
Contrary to claims of security, crimes are being committed in broad daylight
He said that contrary to the claims of women’s safety, crimes are being committed in broad daylight and atrocities on poor, backward, OBC and SC community people are increasing. Maurya alleged that due to the government’s inaction, hooliganism has been established in the state. He demanded the government to take strict action against the criminals and establish the rule of law. He warned that if crimes are not stopped then a big mass movement will be launched to wake up the government.
