New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a man alleged that his wife lost her baby due to medical negligence at Government Daga Hospital in Nagpur. The alleged medical negligence came after a prolonged delay in carrying out the delivery at the hospital, an NDTV report said.
What are the allegations
The husband said Deeplata Banote, his wife, was forced to wait for almost nine hours after she was admitted to the hospital with labour pain before being taken for delivery.
He levelled allegations that during the procedure, a woman attendant tried to assist the delivery by applying pressure by reportedly sitting on his wife’s chest and using her knees.
The woman’s husband told NDTV that she was admitted around 11 am but remained unattended for several hours despite being in pain. He alleged that the force used during the delivery procedure resulted in the death of the baby.
The family pointed out that even though reports suggested that the pregnancy had been normal, the baby was stillborn.
The incident has sparked serious concerns over patient care standards and delivery practices at the hospital.
What the hospital said
Medical Superintendent Dilip Madavi reportedly told NDTV that such an incident “cannot happen”. However, he refused to give a detailed official statement.
Local councillor Wasim Khan claimed that complaints about poor treatment and conduct at the hospital are reported with alarming frequency.
