With those little bursts of warm weather finally starting to show up, it's hard not to start thinking about giving your garden a bit of a refresh. Getting in early is a smart move: you'll dodge the inevitable last-minute rush when everyone suddenly decides to upgrade their outdoor space, and you're far more likely to grab the popular pieces before they sell out.
Egg chairs were everywhere last year, and it's easy to see why. They're a statement piece that instantly adds personality, while also giving you a cosy spot to curl up and soak up the sun. And one big hit last year was Dunelm's Santorini egg chair, a colourful, rattan-weave hanging chair that completely flew off the shelves in certain colours last summer.
The good news is that it's back again this year. Even better, if you've been eyeing it up, now's a great time to go for it because it currently has £100 off. Usually priced at £249, it's down to £149 right now. It comes in two colour options too: a teal and white combo, or a brighter, multi-coloured version-and the discount applies to both.
It's not just a pretty piece either. The chair has racked up an impressive 4.6-star rating from shoppers, which speaks volumes.
If you're not too familiar, egg chairs get their name from their curved, cocoon-like shape - they're designed to feel snug and relaxing. Some sit on legs, while others hang and gently swing, which is exactly what the Santorini chair does.
This one hangs from a metal frame, finished in a bright turquoise shade that actually adds to the look rather than distracting from it. The chair itself is made from turquoise and white rattan, which has become really popular for both indoor and outdoor furniture thanks to its durability and stylish finish. It's got a slightly luxe, holiday feel - like something you'd spot by a hotel pool. Of course, this is the UK, so sunshine isn't guaranteed, but Dunelm says it's "weather-resistant" for when those surprise showers roll in.
And it seems to hold up well, too. One shopper shared: "Bought another this year, last year's has weathered really well outside, you can't tell which one's new."
It also comes with a comfy, fitted cushion to make it extra inviting. As one happy customer put it: "Beautiful chair. So comfy and looks so good. Colour is great." But it's best to bring the cushions indoors when you're not using them to keep them looking fresh.
Like most furniture, it does come flat-packed, so you'll need to assemble it. Some people found it straightforward, while others said it was a bit fiddly. One reviewer said: "Managed to put this together on my own, but it would be easier with two when it comes to the chair. Love the colour, and it's comfortable and seems sturdy. Not used much yet but very happy with it so far."
Another admitted they "struggled a little putting it together, but definitely worth it," while someone else simply said it was "easy." So it probably depends - but having an extra pair of hands nearby wouldn't hurt.
At the end of the day, it's the mix of comfort and style that's won people over. One shopper even said: "I love this chair, that much so I had it shipped over to Spain. I've not seen any better here." And another wrote: "Lovely colour of chair and it's so comfortable. Thinking about getting another one as we've had so many compliments about it."
