King Charles and Queen Camilla were all smiles in Washington DC last night as they stepped out at a US state dinner. Their Majesties were greeted by US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania on Tuesday as they arrived at the White House.

Before going into the East Room for the dinner and taking their seats, the King and Queen posed for photographs with the Trumps. The two couples seemed delighted to be in one another's company.

While King Charles and his wife were two of the most famous faces at the state dinner, which featured numerous courses, the room was full of guests.

One of these guests was Queen Camilla's son-in-law Harry Lopes.

He was not accompanied by his wife, Queen Camilla's daughter, Laura.

It is not entirely clear why Harry, best known as the founder and CEO of Eden Renewables LLC, was at the impressive state dinner.

He was among a number of guests from the UK, including members of Royal Household staff who work for King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Just some of the royal staff with a seat at the state dinner included the King and Queen's Principal Private Secretary, Clive Alderton, and Royal Household Director of Communications, Tobyn Andreae.

The King's Private Secretary, Theo Rycroft, the Queen's Private Secretary, Sophie Densham and Senior Equerry to the King, Jonny Thompson, were also present at the impressive state dinner.

Both King Charles and Donald Trump made a speech at the dinner on Tuesday night, which marked the end of day two of the US state visit.

Today, the King and Queen will move on to New York, where they will carry out a number of engagements. The US state visit will conclude tomorrow, after which His Majesty will fly to Bermuda, where he will carry out two days of solo engagements.
