Riyan Parag skipper of Rajasthan Royals is caught in a controversy after a video apparently showing him using vape in the dressing room during IPL 2026 clash between Rajasthan and Punjab Kings went viral.
During the 16th over of the Rajasthan chase the cameras panned to the dressing room and Parag was seen with the vaping device while sitting with Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The clip quickly went viral across social media, and the views and reactions poured in.
The incident raised many concerns as smoking is forbidden in dressing rooms and stadium vicinity except in the designated areas. But more importantly e-cigarettes and vaping devices are banned in India under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act. The Act bans the manufacturing, sale, purchase, and even the consumption of such products, with violations leading to fines, and in some cases, imprisonment.
The repeated incidents involving conduct issues in IPL
The Jaipur-based franchise has had other conduct issues on the field too earlier in the season itself. The team manager, Romi Bhinder was fined and warned for using his phone in the dug out which is in contravention of PMOA guidelines.
The incident is just one of many involving players. In 2020, former RCB and RR player Aaron Finch was caught on camera vaping in the dressing room during a clash between RR and RCB with the clip going viral within minutes.

Players have been caught admitting to smoking, during high-voltage matches as well. Brendon McCullum confessed that he smoked in a toilet during the semi-final of the 2015 World Cup. Likewise Ben Stokes admitted to smoking in the washroom during the 2019 World Cup final at Lord's.
Kagiso Rabada was also seen in a video earlier in this IPL season where he was allegedly seen smoking on the balcony of a hotel though that incident didn't happen on the field.
Parag's recent controversy has surely raised many eyebrows and there is no doubt in the fact that further probes might be underway and if proven he might have to pay a fine or receive a suspension for flouting the laws.
